Prof Astafiev is an expert in the field of Superconducting Quantum Technologies. His one of founders of Quantum Optics on superconducting quantum systems. Recently he has discovered the fundamental phenomenon of superconductivity – the AC Coherent Quantum Phase Slip effect in superconducting nanowires – dual to AC Josephson effect. In his nearly 40 years of scientific carrier, he published more than 100 scientific papers, among them 6 published in Nature, 1 in Science, 1 in Nature Physics, 13 in Phys. Rev. Letters and other journals. He has been successfully leading many scientific projects. Since 1997, he worked at the University of Tokyo, and from 2001 to 2013 at the NEC Research Laboratory as a Principal Investigator. From 2013 to 2022 he had a position of Professor of Physics at the Royal Holloway, University of London heading Nano-physics and nanotechnology group. And since 2015, he is heading the Laboratory of Artificial Quantum Systems at MIPT. Since 2018, he is a Professor of Skoltech.
